Opening PDFs in Acrobat instead of Chrome

Here’s what you’ll need to do the next time Chrome opens the PDF instead of Acrobat:

To Always open PDFs using your system's viewer:

  1. Open your list of Downloads in Chrome
  2. Click the arrow next to a PDF download
  3. Select the option to use the system viewer.
  4. Choose Always open with system viewer

FYI for others

If you're okay with the Chrome PDF viewer, but want only downloaded PDFs to open in your external PDF viewer (Adobe Acrobat, Foxit Reader, etc.), you don't need to disable the Chrome PDF Viewer.

To set Acrobat as your default PDF app

See these directions from Adobe to set Acrobat as the default app for PDFs on Windows.
